M.A.D.E. is a community creative arts driven project located at the rear of number 18 Church Street Alfreton, in the borough of Amber Valley in Derbyshire, England.  M.A.D.E. was conceived in the summer of 2014 by David Taylor, an Alfreton born academic, who set out to create opportunities for young and older people to work in partnership, mentoring each other by sharing their skills and knowledge (the M.A.D.E. ethos)


As a business venture, David created an independent  Cafe-Bistro Film-Theatre Arts-Crafts venue  M.A.D.E. @ No 18 which opened in October 2014. The main building and the Stable building at the premises have been developed into creative spaces for emerging professional creative arts work including live theatre, music and film production as well as the home for M.A.D.E. Community creative arts project. 


M.A.D.E. is managed separately from M.A.D.E. @ No 18 having its own committee, ethos, constitution and separate bank account overseen by elected members   The M.A.D.E. community creative arts project was formally established in February 2015 and initially used the cafe premises’ to promote art, dance, music, stage work, filming, lighting, sound, acting, writing plays, book club, band/music group, in line with the ethos of M.A.D.E.  


The term M.A.D.E. is an original concept of David's. Publications, acknowledgements, performances or any form of artistic work produced by M.A.D.E. will be signed off as Made in Alfreton, Derbyshire, England. Further funding is being sought for the M.A.D.E. community creative arts project by an enthusiastic fundraising group established to drive the project forward and in addition identify local and national sponsors who may be able to contribute to the project in a financial or practical way.The M.A.D.E. community creative arts project has been identified by local and borough councils through initial start up grants as a massive investment in our local community and our young people’s future.
